Brussels Airport Zaventem (BRU) Information: History and Facilities
Dating back as far as the First World War, Brussels Zaventem Airport was actually built by the German army which was currently occupying the Evere and Haren area and soon after was taken over by the Belgian military. Before long it was decided to develop this spot further, since the city's current civil airport within the municipality of Hence was both over stretched and inadequate. The existing wooden structure was replaced in the late 1940s by a more substantial passenger terminal and several years later Brussels Airport (BRU) was connected to the city centre via a railway line.
The information desk at Brussels Airport lies in the centre of the departures hall and is manned by a team of helpful staff, while more than 20 restaurants and cafes are on hand and include the Belgian Beer Café, Brussels Plaza, Milestone and Provencette. Around 35 different stores are available for shoppers, while other facilities include airline business lounges, the Regus Skyport Meeting Centre and plenty of cashpoints.
Brussels Airport Zaventem (BRU) Information: About Brussels Tourism

The Grand Place is one of the most visited attractions in the whole of Brussels and is based around the market square, close to many beautiful 17th-century buildings and guildhouses.
All of the city's attractions are simple to reach from Brussels Airport (BRU), with other highlights including the ancient Beguine convent, Manneken Pis bronze sculpture, Saint-Hubert Galleries, Belgian Comic Strip Centre, the Cinquantenaire, Atomium and, of course, the world-famous Belgian chocolates.
